From the feminist imagination potency to the unusual alliances

Abstract

This article aims to think about the non-hegemonic feminist practices that feminisms produce in the field of resistance to gender-based violence. To do this, we propose a first exercise in reimagining feminisms, here called others, that oppose white hegemonic feminism, which has a carceral and punitive character. Our second exercise elucidates the potential of the imagination of these non-hegemonic feminisms to create unusual alliances, capable of handcrafting practices to confront gender-based violence in different contexts of transnational feminist resistance. The research is based on a narrative bibliographical review, which stitches together dialogues between black and decolonial feminisms, with contributions from Brazilian and American black feminist thought and Latin American and Caribbean decolonial thought. This process guides us to imagine a non-negotiably feminist and creative horizon that does not reinforce colonial violence in its practices against gender-based violence.
