Women in Cellular Biology
un estudio exploratorio utilizando el género como categoría de análisis

This article aims to understand how the scientific production of women in Cellular Biology has been presented in works published in Brazil, pointing out historical aspects of the scientific contribution of women in this area, based on a review of publications in the field of Gender and Science studies. This is an exploratory bibliographical research, in which a survey of texts was carried out using the online platforms of “Cadernos Pagu” and the Scielo Electronic Library, using terms such as: “history of feminism”, “impact of feminism”, as descriptors. “gender and science” and “gender concept”. It was possible to reach nine (9) publications on the topic, starting in the 1970s, highlighting eight (8) scientific articles and one (1) book, as the main materials analyzed here. From this analysis, it was possible to see that, in terms of Cellular and Molecular Biology, there are still few publications on the scientific production carried out by women, despite there being ample material from historical studies around gender and the role of feminism and its implications in science, requiring investment in Gender and Science studies within the scope of Cellular and Molecular Biology, in order to make visible the knowledge produced by women at this field.
