Abstract

With the increase in environmental catastrophes and the intensive exploitation of renewable and non-renewable natural resources for economic development, it is essential to rigorously address environmental issues and promote a cultural shift that prioritizes sustainability and environmental preservation. Based on this problem, the present study aimed to measure the level of environmental awareness among students through their habits and intentions when consuming products. To this end, a quantitative survey was conducted with 135 students from the Federal University of Amazonas (Manaus campus), specifically from the Administration program. The study results indicate that these university students have a tendency to adopt sustainable behaviors in their consumption choices and are committed to continuing these practices more earnestly in the future. However, in some aspects, reluctance, contradictions, and neutrality were observed, which may be associated with various factors that hinder the formation of habits that can be considered truly sustainable.
