Abstract

In today’s highly competitive environment, organizations, including construction companies, face the complex task of attracting and retaining customers. In this context, the Quality Management System (QMS), based on NBR ISO 9001 and PBQP-H’s SIAC 2021, has been used to enhance competitiveness, and the commitment of senior management is crucial for its success. This study examines the commitment level of Pernambuco construction companies’ senior management toward their QMS. To achieve this goal, all Pernambuco construction companies certified to SIAC 2021 Level A were contacted. A total of 11 companies responded to a structured questionnaire based on senior management requirements. Of these, three lacked NBR ISO 9001:2015 certification, leaving a final sample of eight companies. A Likert scale yielded the following initial results: three companies with an excellent level of commitment, three with a very good level, one with a good level, and one with a fair level. When considering the main challenges in meeting senior management requirements, the true commitment levels of the companies were revealed: one company with an excellent level of commitment, two with a very good level, two with a good level, three with a fair level, and one with a very poor level.
