Abstract

Green hydrogen has become the center of attention on the world stage, since it allows the production of heat for various purposes without generating undesirable gases. Therefore, more and more studies are related to this topic, given the many challenges of green production and the forms and means of its use. For the production of this hydrogen, a necessary technique is water electrolysis, which can occur using the PEM or alkaline method. This article seeks to evaluate the trends in publications in the area of PEM or alkaline electrolysis for hydrogen production in order to carry out this analysis in the spectrum of publications focused on both the global and national contexts. It is possible to analyze the articles with the most citations, the most relevant institutions, which countries have been working in the area, which journals produce on this subject, in addition to observing which gaps need to be filled with more studies and research. For this purpose, the Scopus database was used considering some key words, such as ("alkaline electrolysis" or "electrolysis alkaline" or "PEM electrolysis" or "electrolysis PEM" and "hydrogen") and, subsequently, the data from the documents found in Bibliometrix was analyzed. The objective of this work is to identify the evolution of the theme and show Brazil's position in the world scenario.
