Analysis of acoustic comfort in environments with different sealing elements

Abstract

The sound has always been present in people daily life, its propagation can often be hosted as unpleasant, creating a discomfort for those who listen, being called noise. Currently, the construction market is based on the performance record applied by NBR 15575-1 (ABNT, 2013), which suggests the minimum performance. The present study sought to evaluate the influence of sealing elements (ceramic block, brick and glass), which can be used in structures, individually or together, regarding acoustic comfort, the comfort level that these features provide to the analysis environments and determinate which sealing elements are more efficient with respect to acoustics. After a bibliographical review about concepts related to the theme, the analysis structures were defined. The study area was concentrated in buildings in the main road of the city of Três Passos/RS, road with highest vehicle flow and concentration of commercial activity, therefore, higher noise level. Four environments were taxed by measurements with a sound level meter, observing the value of the internal and external noise peak. It was concluded that the most efficient sealing element was the ceramic block and was observed that most environments do not hit the minimum acoustic comfort requirements.
