Government Leadership of the Municipal Executive Branch of Parintins (AM) and its Implications in the Management of the Covid-19 Pandemic

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present the type of leadership adopted by the Municipal Executive of Parintins (AM) to face the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic at the municipal level. Publicized information on actions to combat the disease by municipal management was researched, seeking to identify the implications arising from these operations in the political, social and economic fields. With the qualitative approach in the case study, answers were obtained to the assumptions made regarding the promotion of management of assertive policy actions and the generation of satisfactory resolutions to combat the pandemic. The main results of the investigation highlighted the importance of leadership in carrying out actions to combat the disease and its implications in the political, social and economic fields, highlighting managerial skills for the development of people and teams, expressed by Municipal Decrees , Management Acts, Reports, Coronavirus Combat Plans. It is concluded that the expected style of democratic leadership for the pandemic scenario in Parintins was developed with effective and differentiated actions, making it possible to take advantage of the experience of a leader from a municipality, which is an island in the middle of the Amazon, with very diverse logistical difficulties and which had to develop skills at the local level to meet its needs. Such actions indicate that the democratic leadership style, in a crisis situation, refers to the creativity of innovation to shorten bureaucratic procedures, not wasting resources and, at the same time, bringing a response that was considered positive by the population.
