Quality education is paramount for a country's economic, political, and social growth, thus promoting regional development and enhancing competitiveness. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the factors that impact the educational performance of students in basic education in the western region of Santa Catarina. The study referenced the years 2015, 2017, and 2019, as IDEB (Basic Education Development Index) data is provided biennially, and the study sample included 62 municipalities in the western region of Santa Catarina. For the analysis of what impacts the IDEB of students in elementary school, descriptive statistics of the data and Multiple Linear Regression were used. The results indicate that the variables studied, such as investment, number of enrolled students, average class hours, and municipalities' Per Capita GDP, do not have a direct influence on IDEB. This situation is justified by the insufficient correlation observed among these variables in the study to mutually influence each other. The study contributes by providing researchers and public administrators with information to aid in assessing public management and enabling better decision-making to maximize the utility of these public resources and enhance their allocation efficiency.
