Author Guidelines
(July 2023 update version)
Aims and scope
-
The Brazilian Journal of University Extension is a quarterly publication of the Forum of Vice-presidents of Extension of Brazilian Public Universities, whose goal is to enable the exchange of practices, ideas, and results of actions of extension developed by universities, through a wide network of diverse actors and social institutions. University Extension circumscribes works developed by the academic staff and students with the non-academic community.
-
The journal emphasizes articles that could represent a theoretical or empirical reference for the University Extension. Self-promotion of institutions and authors should be avoided.
-
A wide and up-to-date reference list is expected aiming to aggregate meaningful contributions to the Extension University area.
-
Experience reports, case studies, and theoretical and critical reviews are accepted. Research papers are also accepted since the authors demonstrate the approach is directly linked to the University Extension as an investigation object. Authorization from Ethical Committee will be required in research with human subjects.
- The journal expects submitted articles to have a broad and qualified bibliographic review, presenting the main references on similar and previous extension work, and representing contributions that add knowledge in the area of University Extension. At least 25% of the references must be articles in peer-reviewed journals and from the last 5 years.
- The journal does not publish articles that are too similar to previous publications; plagiarism and self-plagiarism are strongly condemned. Authors must make sure that the content is original and unpublished. This applies even to full papers published in events. Previously published ideas must be properly cited according to the rules. However, texts from Doctoral Theses, Master's Dissertations, and other final papers will not be considered plagiarized, as long as the author of the final paper is one of the authors of the submitted article.
-
Works are accepted in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Submitted papers will be evaluated by the Editorial Board and in a double-blind review by at least two referees, who shall recommend acceptance or rejection of the work, and suggest changes. The submission period will be published on the journal page.
-
The referees are professionals with experience in University Extension and experts in different thematic areas: communication, culture, human rights, education, environment, health, and technology. Priority themes, scientific consistency, originality, timeliness of information, and ethical standards of care will be considered.
-
Authors may enter names of potential peer reviewers they wish to suggest with institutional affiliation and e-mail in the Letter to Editor. Notwithstanding, the choice of referees is a prerogative of the editorial team.
-
Copyright: the authors retain the copyright of the published papers under the definitions of Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 Licence CC-BY.
-
The content of the work is the exclusive responsibility of their respective authors, and it must be unpublished material and should not be in review by another journal.
-
A maximum number of eight authors is expected, however, a higher number could be justified in the Letter to the Editor. The contribution of the authors should be presented in a section named Contribution of Each Author following Acknowledgements and before Notes and References.
-
All the submission procedures will be done on the electronic page of the Journal at < https://periodicos.uffs.edu.br/index.php/RBEU >
