Abstract

The periodical press is often used in studies dedicated to the History of Childhood. Concomitantly, the historiography has seized the news that the mainstream media reelaborates the senses, produce social memory and actively participate in historical processes. From research in the Diário Catarinense journal, in conveyed editions between 1986 and 1990, this article intends to make use of theoretical and methodological Foucauldian tools to instigate reflections on the use of the news providing documents for the History of Childhood.
