Abstract

This paper seeks to present the bases of the phenomenological thought of the work
The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir. The work, despite not being and not intending to be a philosophical treatise in the strict sense of the word, presents several philosophical features that deserve to be examined in detail. With this explanation we seek to: i) insert Beauvoir's thought within a philosophical tradition; ii) sustain that, even without philosophical pretensions, the text is configured as a philosophical text; iii) to problematize the Beauvoirian analysis of women and their situation from the point of view of phenomenology and existentialism.
