Abstract

This article aims to present phenomenological thought based on Husserl's notion of intentionality
and its impact on contemporary thought, focusing on the shift in the concept of knowledge within Husserl's intended epistemology and its subsequent transformation in existential approaches of the 20th century. The article aims to show how the notion of intentionality, as received by a certain French tradition, allows for a displacement of the role of knowledge in Husserl's work, from being the privileged means of exposing truth to an unexpected openness toward existence. The dream of unequivocal knowledge does not achieve its goal, but it enables a renewed engagement with the world and opens pathways for other critical thoughts.
