Abstract

This article critically examines the ideal of global sovereignty proposed by Philip Pettit and its relationship with justice in different political traditions. It discusses debates within the liberal tradition regarding the demand for justice within the internal structure of states and explores efforts to seek more cosmopolitan solutions. Pettit's model of the law of peoples is analyzed, along with criticisms and how neo republicanism addresses global issues. Finally, considering the limitations of Pettit's model, new approaches are proposed for a more radical interpretation of the republican tradition in the global context.
