Abstract

The textile and clothing sector is economically significant in Brazil, offering thousands of jobs throughout its production chain, as well as in the various activities related to the sector. Considering socio-environmental aspects, the sector stands out negatively, due to its impacts on the environment and working conditions, driven by excessive consumption, especially fast fashion. However, it is a sector with the potential to establish more sustainable standards. Through a bibliographical review, the work aimed to present an overview of the insertion of sustainability in the production chain of the textile and clothing sector, using the municipality of Gaspar (SC) as a reference. It was noticed that there are socio-environmental impacts throughout the sector's production chain, and to deal with them, some organizational structures were created. Considering the panorama of the textile and clothing sector, it was noticed that the municipality of Gaspar (SC) needs greater appropriation of the theme of sustainability and the circular economy, in all its dimensions, by all the actors involved in this arrangement. productive. Understanding the complex relationships in the chain is necessary to promote responsible measures in the management of companies in the sector.
