Abstract

Although the circular economy is a recent model, its accreditation as an enabler of sustainability has been increasing in the last decades. This research analyzed the international scientific publications related to the Circular Economy and sustainability in journals indexed in the Web of Science. A bibliometric analysis was carried out through descriptive statistics, identification of outliers and evaluation of sociometric networks. The sample comprised 1.445 articles, published in 400 journals and produced in 401 institutions. It is perceived that the theme, despite considered new, has been growing considerably in terms of publication in the last years. However, the Brazilian academic production in the field is still discreet, bringing to the light the need to broaden lines of research. Finally, this article identifies opportunities forfuture research that might analyze the application of the Circular Economy in fields such as economy and business, as well as consumer behavior.
