About the Journal
The Gestão e Sustentabilidade Journal (RG&S) aims to:
Disseminate knowledge by publishing original and unpublished articles in the fields of management and sustainability, with the objective of fostering scientific production and dissemination in these areas, as well as related fields.
Publication Frequency
RG&S follows a Continuous Publication process with annual issues, promoting prompt communication and availability of its articles. Each issue features 16 published articles.
Structure of the Journal RG&S is structured into four sections:
Section 1: Solid Waste Management
This section focuses on publishing original studies on indicators, practices, and methodologies related to the management of solid waste from various classifications and sources. It also aims to address current and emerging topics in sustainability and integrated, innovative, responsive, and/or resilient management.
Section 2: Environmental Impact Assessment and Mitigation
This section aims to publish studies related to significant environmental issues, focusing on methodologies applied to environmental impact assessment and mitigation, as well as environmental pollution control and management.
Section 3: Organizational Sustainability
This section aims to publish works focusing on management, modes of production and consumption, and the relationship between environment and society, encompassing the three pillars of sustainability: economic, social, and environmental. It also includes studies on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).
Section 4: Technologies Applied to Waste Valorization
This section seeks to publish original studies focused on the utilization/reuse/recycling of waste or by-products in raw material processes, products, new materials, or for energy recovery/production. It also aims to address current and emerging topics in circular economy, clean and cleaner production, clean technologies, eco-efficiency, and sustainability.
Submission Types
Articles that foster discussion and represent scientific advancement within the journal’s focus and scope are welcome. These include: research findings, empirical studies, essays, case studies, technical reports, and literature reviews. Priority will be given to works originating from research conducted in stricto sensu graduate programs.
Peer Review Process
The manuscript review process follows these steps:
- Initial Review: The section editors, together with the chief editor, assess the manuscript for its alignment with the journal's scope, adherence to submission guidelines, originality, methodological rigor, and the study's discussion and results. At this stage, rejection may occur, and the editors may suggest adjustments for a new submission.
- Assignment: Articles approved in the previous step will be assigned to external reviewers (peer reviewers). It is the responsibility of the section editors to designate reviewers and monitor the evaluation timelines.
- Evaluation: This stage is conducted by two reviewers using a double-blind method (in case of divergence, a third reviewer may be involved). Based on the evaluations and recommendations, the manuscript is returned to the authors for revisions. Once the revisions are made, the manuscript moves forward to editing and publication in a volume to be determined by the journal.
Evaluation Form
After the evaluation by the section editors, the manuscript will be sent to two ad hoc reviewers specialized in the article’s subject matter. The review system used is double-blind peer review, where the reviewers' names will remain confidential, as will the authors' names to the reviewers.
The evaluations may result in five types of decisions: Accept; Mandatory Corrections; Resubmit for Review; Submit to Another Journal; Reject.
The publication of works is conditioned on meeting the reviewers' recommendations.
The evaluation is based on the Evaluation Form.
The requirements will guide the reviewers' evaluation, who, in addition to assigning a score to each requirement, should provide a descriptive review with their observations to improve the manuscript under review.

External reviewers should consider any potential conflicts of interest before reviewing a manuscript, and if any exist, they should request a substitution from the editor.
