SUBMISSIONS TO THE BRAZILIAN JOURNAL OF UNIVERSITY EXTENSION - Clarification Note
We have observed in the last few weeks a sharp increase in manuscript submissions to the Brazillian Journal of University Extension (Revista Brasileira de Extension Universitária - RBEU), possibly as a by-product of the quarantine process related to COVID 19. Unfortunately, the quality of most of the submitted texts falls well below the journal's expectations, in addition to non-compliance with the Guidelines for the Authors. We emphasize that, at the moment, due to the overload on the editorial team, ANY divergence from the norms will give rise to SUMMARY REJECTION. At the moment, more than 80% of submissions are being rejected.
Often, we frequently observe that the textual production seems be produced by academics with little experience in technical writing, which leads to numerous errors in style, scientific format, and compliance with standards. This situation also leads to the summary rejection of articles. It is highly recommended that co-authors with more experience review the final version of the manuscript before submitting.
Among the most frequent reasons for rejection are the low linguistic quality (punctuation, grammar and spelling errors, use of colloquial language), inadequate formatting of references and citations, failure to indicate potential evaluators (item 7 of the Guidelines for Authors ), and the absence of clear information about the extension projects involved and their team.
Another frequent deficiency of the articles is the little depth of the Discussion, which does not include the university extension itself, without comparing the experiences with other similar university extension, in the case of reports. The RBEU is not a mere repository or archive of project reports.
Finally, we clarify that only high-level productions will be accepted in the Brazillian Journal of University Extension (Revista Brasileira de Extension Universitária).
