Abstract

This article aims to discuss some relationships between audiovisual production, ethnography, and the origins of Brazilian popular festivals, proposing a multisensory ethnography of the Festa de São Benedito de Curaçá, addressing the various rituals and symbolic behaviors that constitute it. Based on material derived from the production of the documentary "Festejar São Benedito Pra Todo Ano Chover", produced in 2022, followed by empirical research in 2023, the article reflects on the articulation between ethnographic research and visual anthropology, emphasizing the evocative possibilities in the interaction between texts, photographs, videos and children in the process of recording the lived experience with the community.
