Abstract

The present article consists of a reflection on important contemporary notions of fiction, their implications, in general, in life and in the human sciences, and, particularly, in the production of historical knowledge. In order to do so, we analyze the definitions of fiction developed by Wolfgang Iser and Jacques Rancière, based on their texts and specialized studies on their works and on the theory of history, and the way in which, in the relationship between the authors, it is possible to think of fiction as a construction/transgression of realities, especially when considering the interdependence between reality and fiction.
